Supporting Neurodiversity in the Workplace

A diverse and inclusive workforce brings a wealth of perspectives, creativity and innovation to any organisation. Employees with speech, language and communication needs – including, but not limited to, those who are neurodivergent – can offer unique strengths and skills when they are properly supported.

By actively supporting neurodiversity in the workplace, employers can improve staff wellbeing, increase productivity and create a truly neuroinclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.

For a broader overview of neurodiversity and employment, you may also wish to visit the ACAS website.

Why focus on communication and neurodiversity?

Many neurodivergent employees experience differences in communication, sensory processing and executive functioning. These can affect:

  • Meetings and workplace conversations
  • Written communication (emails, reports, instant messages)
  • Organisation, planning and time management
  • Interactions with customers and colleagues

With the right understanding and reasonable adjustments, these differences can be accommodated in ways that allow people to contribute their strengths and thrive. Our specialist speech and language therapy team helps organisations to build inclusive communication practices, improving confidence, understanding and workplace inclusion.

How We Can Help

We offer a suite of neurodiversity training and support options to help businesses to create an inclusive workplace for employees with speech, language and communication needs, including neurodivergent staff. All sessions are delivered by two highly skilled professionals from our team and can be offered face-to-face or virtually. Discounts are available for public sector and voluntary sector organisations.

Below you will find out more about our five training packages. Each training session is designed as a standalone introduction for people with limited prior knowledge. We can also create a series of linked sessions, or design something bespoke for your organisation.
