Helping children build communication, confidence and connection
This summer, ISLTS is offering a wide range of holiday groups for children with speech, language and communication needs across Norfolk. Our small, friendly groups are tailored for children from pre-school through to secondary age, and are designed and led by qualified Speech and Language Therapists. Each session uses fun, engaging activities to build communication skills, confidence and social interaction in a relaxed, supportive environment where every child can thrive.
Why support matters early
Speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) are the most common special educational need in children.
Research shows that in an average classroom:
- 7–10% of children have some form of SLCN
- This rises to 50% or more in areas of social disadvantage
Locally, demand continues to grow. Norfolk County Council reports over 30,000 children and young people with SEND – a rise of more than 60% since 2016.
These difficulties can affect how children understand, express themselves, build friendships and access learning. Many parents tell us they’re unsure whether to worry or what to do next.
During the school holidays, many parents of children with SEN can feel unsure how to replace the structure and support that school provides. Our groups offer a consistent, supportive environment where children can continue to develop and thrive.

Our sessions are led by experienced Speech and Language Therapists and designed to:
- Support communication through play and interaction
- Build confidence and social skills
- Give parents practical, easy-to-use strategies
- Provide a relaxed, supportive environment

Group One: Little Talkers: Pre-school Communication & Play Summer Group (2-4 years)
Ideal for children not yet at school, including those starting in September 2026.
Mondays: 9.30am – 11.20am
Dates: 20th July, 27th July, 3rd August, 10th August, 17th August, 24th August
Parents stay and take part, learning practical strategies in a relaxed setting.
- Weekly themed activities
- Parent participation encouraged
- Communication through play
£30 per session
A parent or carer attends each session with their child.

Group Two: Communication & Play Summer Groups (5-7 Years)
Wednesdays: 9.30am – 11.20am
Dates: 22nd July, 29th July, 5th August, 12th August, 19th August, 26th August
Fun, structured sessions to support language, listening and interaction skills.
£30 per session
A parent or carer attends each session with their child.

Group Three: Communication & Play Summer Groups (8-10 Years)
Thursdays: 9.30am – 11.20am
Dates: 23rd July, 30th July, 6th August, 13th August, 20th August, 27th August
Sessions focus on developing communication, confidence and social interaction.
£30 per session
A parent or carer attends each session with their child.

Group Four: Communication & Confidence Summer Groups (11–15 Years)
Tuesdays: 9.30am – 11.20am
Dates: 21st July, 28th July, 4th August, 11th August, 18th August, 25th August
A supportive group using games, puzzles and LEGO® activities to build:
- Social interaction skills
- Confidence
- Communication in real-life situations
£30 per session
